The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed the main chamber of the Lock and Dam No. 2 on the Monongahela River in Braddock because of a crack in a gate's steel hinge. Lock staff noticed the crack in one of the upper brackets last night. In the meantime, the auxiliary lock chamber will remain open, but commercial and recreational traffic on the river will be "much slower" said Jeff Hawk of the Army Corps of Engineers [..]
